Miniature Fox Terrier

The Miniature Fox Terrier — the "Mini Foxie" — is an Australian ratting terrier bred down from British fox terriers for farm and stable work.

History

It was developed in nineteenth-century Australia from imported fox terriers crossed with other small breeds, to kill rats and rabbits around farms and mines. It has long been a common Australian household dog and is recognised by Australian registries rather than internationally.

Temperament

The breed is known for being quick, bold and devoted to its household, alert to everything and inclined to announce it.

Care and training

It needs regular exercise and a secure garden. The very short coat needs nothing. It is intelligent and trains readily when the sessions stay interesting.

Health
