Serbian Tricolour Hound

The Serbian Tricolour Hound is the tricolour counterpart of the Serbian Hound — long treated as a colour variety and separated into a breed of its own in the 1990s.

History

It shares the Serbian Hound's history and working role in the Balkan mountains, and the two were registered together until Yugoslav and later Serbian authorities recorded the tricolour dogs separately. The split is administrative rather than functional.

Temperament

The breed is known for being energetic, determined and affectionate with its handler, working stubbornly on a line and settling calmly at home.

Care and training

It needs substantial exercise and secure ground, and the drop ears want routine cleaning. The short coat needs little.
