
Lucas Terrier
The Lucas Terrier is a small British working terrier created in the twentieth century by crossing the Sealyham with the Norfolk Terrier.
History
It was developed by Sir Jocelyn Lucas, who wanted a working terrier small enough to go to ground but calmer than the Sealyhams he was breeding. The result was kept as a working and companion terrier and remains a rare, club-registered British breed.
Temperament
The breed is known for being friendly, steady and sociable with other dogs — deliberately less quarrelsome than most working terriers, which was the point of making it.
Care and training
It needs regular exercise and a secure garden. The harsh coat needs brushing and occasional hand-stripping. It trains readily for a terrier.
Health
