Ocicat

The Ocicat is a spotted short-haired cat that looks like a wild ocelot but is entirely domestic in ancestry — an athletic, sociable breed.

History

It arose in the United States from crossing Siamese, Abyssinian and American Shorthair cats, the spotted pattern appearing unexpectedly and then bred for deliberately. Despite the wild look, there is no wild cat in its makeup.

Temperament

The breed is known for being confident, active and dog-like — sociable, trainable and fond of company, often learning to fetch or walk on a lead. It bonds closely and dislikes being left alone.

Care

The short, sleek coat is easy to keep with occasional grooming. An energetic, clever cat, it needs play, climbing space and engagement to stay content.
