Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog

The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is an American bulldog type from southern Georgia, kept as a farm guardian and catch dog.

History

It was preserved along the Alapaha River in Georgia by families who kept the old plantation bulldog type working, and was organised as a breed in the twentieth century. Its recognition is limited to smaller registries, and its history is family tradition as much as record.

Temperament

The breed is known for being confident, protective and devoted to its household, steady with its own people and watchful of everything else.

Care and training

It needs regular exercise, early socialising and consistent handling from an owner who understands guarding breeds. The short coat is easy; the broad head means heat deserves care.

Health
