Serrano Bulldog

The Buldogue Serrano is a Brazilian cattle bulldog from the highlands of Santa Catarina, in the south of the country.

History

It comes from the same old bulldog stock as the Campeiro, kept by highland ranchers to hold cattle during handling and to guard the property. It is a regional working dog rather than a show breed, registered by Brazilian clubs, and its population sits largely in the states where the work is.

Temperament

The breed is known for being determined, territorial and closely attached to its own family, level-headed at home and serious about the yard.

Care and training

It needs moderate but genuine exercise, secure boundaries, early socialising and a consistent owner. The short coat is easy.

Health
