Mi-Ki

The Mi-Ki is a small American companion breed developed in the late twentieth century, bred for the household and for nothing else.

History

It was created in the United States in the 1980s from small companion breeds, and its exact founding crosses are disputed among the registries that record it. It has never had a working role, which is unusual enough among dogs to be worth stating plainly, and it is registered by American breed clubs rather than internationally.

Temperament

The breed is known for being gentle, quiet and strongly people-oriented, notably less inclined to bark than most toy breeds and easy with children and other pets.

Care and training

Exercise needs are small and met indoors and on short walks. The long silky coat needs regular brushing. It trains easily and does badly when left alone for long stretches.

Health

Known tendencies are those of small companion breeds: patellar luxation and dental crowding. These are patterns for the breed rather than a forecast for one dog; the measured facts are in the panel.
