Great Anglo-French Tricolour Hound
The Grand Anglo-Français Tricolore is a large French pack hound made by crossing French hounds with English foxhounds — bred for stag and boar in formal hunts.
History
The Anglo-French hounds were created in the nineteenth century when French hunts crossed their heavier native hounds with faster English foxhounds. The tricolour is one of three colour-defined breeds in the group, and all of them are kept almost exclusively in working packs.
Temperament
The breed is known for being sociable, tolerant of other dogs and highly driven in the field — a pack animal in the fullest sense, unhappy kept alone.
Care and training
It needs an enormous amount of exercise and the company of other dogs; this is a hunt kennel's dog rather than a household's. The short coat is easy to keep.
Health
Generally robust, with ear infections and, in a deep-chested hound, bloat among the known tendencies. These are patterns for the breed rather than a forecast for one dog; the measured facts are in the panel.
