Treeing Tennessee Brindle

The Treeing Tennessee Brindle is an American cur bred for treeing game, distinguished from the other curs by its brindle coat.

History

It was developed from brindle-coated curs found in the Appalachians and the Ozarks, gathered into a breed from the 1960s by breeders who advertised for dogs of the type. It is registered by American working associations and remains a hunting dog rather than a show breed.

Temperament

The breed is known for being intelligent, eager and companionable, friendly with its household and single-minded on a trail, with the open voice its hunters value.

Care and training

It needs substantial exercise and a real outlet for the treeing instinct. It trains well and enjoys work. The short coat needs almost nothing.
