Ratonero Basco

The Basque Ratter — Ratonero Bodeguero's northern cousin — is a small Spanish farm terrier from the Basque Country, kept to control vermin.

History

It worked Basque farmhouses and stables against rats, and belongs to the family of Spanish ratonero terriers found across the north of the country. Regional recognition is recent; the working type is much older.

Temperament

The breed is known for being quick, tenacious and attached to its household, with a terrier's confidence and a strong instinct to hunt vermin.

Care and training

It needs regular exercise and a secure garden, since it digs. The short coat needs almost nothing.
