Dogue Brasileiro

The Dogue Brasileiro is a modern Brazilian molosser, bred as a guarding and companion dog with a shorter, wider head than the working bulldogs it comes from.

History

It was developed in Brazil in the late twentieth century from Brazilian bulldog stock, and is registered by Brazilian clubs rather than internationally. It is young enough that its breeding population is small and its type is still settling.

Temperament

The breed is known for being confident, territorial and closely bonded to its family, steady at home and unhesitating about strangers.

Care and training

It needs moderate exercise, secure boundaries, early socialising and a consistent owner. The short coat is easy; facial folds want cleaning and a shortened muzzle deserves care in heat.

Health
