Bull Terrier
The Bull Terrier is a British breed unmistakable for its egg-shaped head — a muscular, playful dog with a clownish streak.
History
It began in nineteenth-century England as a cross of bulldog and terrier, first for the pit and vermin work, then refined into a companion and show dog with the distinctive down-faced head fixed later in the breed's development.
Temperament
The breed is known for being courageous, exuberant and fond of people, often described as a three-year-old in a dog suit for its energy and mischief. It is affectionate but strong-willed, and does best with company.
Care and training
It needs plenty of daily exercise and early, consistent, reward-based training to channel a powerful and playful dog. The short coat is easy to keep.
Health
Known tendencies include inherited deafness — particularly in white dogs — along with heart and kidney conditions for which breeders test. These are patterns for the breed rather than a forecast for one dog; the measured facts are in the panel.
