Turkish Angora

The Turkish Angora is an ancient natural longhair from Turkey, with a fine, silky single coat and a lively, engaged manner.

History

It takes its name from Ankara — historically Angora — and is one of the older documented longhaired breeds, long kept and prized in Turkey, where the national zoo helped preserve the pure white line. It was later established in Western registries.

Temperament

The breed is known for being active, intelligent and strongly bonded to its people — a cat that involves itself in everything and can be quite talkative. It is playful and affectionate well into adulthood.

Care

The silky single coat has little undercoat, so it mats less than many longhairs and needs only regular brushing. A busy, clever cat, it appreciates play and company.

Health
