The lists elsewhere on this site tell you what people call their animals. They cannot tell you what to call yours, and the difference is what this section is about.
A popular name is easy to say, instantly understood and spelled back correctly by every vet — and it means three animals turning round in the park. A rare name avoids that and asks you to spell it for the rest of its life. Nothing in the data resolves that trade-off; it only tells you honestly which side of it a name sits on.
