Miniature Bull Terrier

The Miniature Bull Terrier is the Bull Terrier in a smaller frame — the same egg-shaped head, the same triangular eye, the same conviction.

History

Small bull terriers existed alongside the standard size from the breed's beginnings in nineteenth-century England, when bull-and-terrier crosses were made for fighting and then re-bred as companions. British registries recognised the miniature as a separate breed in 1939; the standard is identical apart from height.

Temperament

The breed is known for being playful, stubborn and comically single-minded, deeply attached to its people and often intolerant of other dogs. It stays puppyish for years and needs company.

Care and training

It needs regular exercise and consistent, patient training — this is a strong-willed dog in a compact body, and boredom becomes destruction. The short coat is easy to keep.
