Korat

The Korat is an ancient Thai breed — a silver-blue cat with luminous green eyes and a heart-shaped face, long regarded in Thailand as a bringer of good fortune.

History

Known in Thailand as the Si-Sawat, it is one of the oldest documented breeds, appearing in centuries-old Thai manuscripts and traditionally given in pairs as a wedding gift to wish luck on a marriage. Its single silver-tipped blue coat is a breed hallmark.

Temperament

The breed is known for being intelligent, sensitive and deeply attached to its people — a cat that bonds hard, dislikes being ignored and can be quietly assertive about routine. It prefers a calm, settled home.

Care

The short single coat is easy to keep with occasional grooming. The real requirement is company and consistency, since a Korat invests heavily in its household.

Health
