German Pinscher

The German Pinscher is a medium, sleek-coated German breed — an old ratter and guardian that stands behind both the Dobermann and the Miniature Pinscher.

History

It is one of Germany's older breeds, kept to kill vermin and watch the homestead, and it contributed to the development of several better-known pinscher and schnauzer types. Its smooth coat and athletic build are the marks of a working dog.

Temperament

The breed is known for being confident, lively and strong-willed — an intelligent, energetic dog with a sharp watchdog instinct and a clear mind of its own. It bonds closely but is no pushover.
