Bruno Jura Hound

The Bruno Jura Hound is a Swiss scent hound from the Jura mountains — a heavy-headed tracker built for cold, steep and broken ground.

History

It is one of the four regional varieties of the Swiss Hound, worked on hare, fox and deer in the Jura. Its build and heavy head reflect the same old European tracking stock that produced the Bloodhound, and the type is documented in the region for centuries.

Temperament

The breed is known for being calm, affectionate and extremely persistent, quiet at home and impossible to distract once it is working a line.

Care and training

It needs substantial exercise over real ground and secure containment. Recall is the standing difficulty. The short coat needs little; the long ears want cleaning.
