
Norwegian Forest Cat
The Norwegian Forest Cat — the skogkatt — is a large, semi-longhaired natural breed from Norway, built by a cold climate rather than by design.
History
It developed as a landrace in the forests and farms of Norway over centuries, its thick water-shedding coat and sturdy frame the work of hard northern winters. It appears in Norse folklore and was later recognised as a formal breed in the twentieth century.
Temperament
The breed is known for being friendly, calm and adaptable — sociable with its family without being demanding, and confident enough to enjoy climbing and exploring. It is a steady, good-natured cat.
Care
The long double coat needs regular brushing, more so in spring when it sheds its dense winter layer. A big, active cat, it appreciates height and space to climb.
Health
