Havana Brown

The Havana Brown is a rich, warm-brown short-haired cat with green eyes — a rare breed prized for its glossy, even chocolate coat.

History

It was developed in England in the mid-twentieth century by crossing Siamese with domestic black cats to fix a solid brown coat, and takes its name from the tobacco (or the rabbit) it was thought to resemble. The gene pool has always been small.

Temperament

The breed is known for being affectionate, people-oriented and gently playful — a cat that follows its people about, often reaches out with a paw, and thrives on interaction. It is sociable and does poorly ignored.

Care

The short coat is easy to keep with occasional grooming. The real requirement is company, since this is a cat that wants to be involved in the household.

Health
